Edit: The whole thing is a project of Bojana Novaković (Bojana=Yana, Novaković=Novak). Fantastic lesson for me and my perceptions and predictions. And finally lot of smiling. Great!!!

People like to share “funny/interesting” stuff on FB. I just got Yana Novak on my feed. Yana is a serbian girl, with a huge aspiration to become a Hollywood superstar. On her FB info she writes about her profession: “adult entertainer of the high quality service and ability”.

All human beings should live a life of dignity.

I am truly and deeply disturbed by these videos. With a bit of education on psyhology I just asked myself:  what kind of childhood has this young woman had?

If you could picture sadness… What would it look like?

People react in a few ways:

  • they find this story funny
  • they judge (like “God kill her”, “You are stupid”) and throw in some hard words (bitch…)
  • they make fun and try to be cynic, trying to prove that they are better
  • they have a transfer of emberassment and shame

Of course comments and reactions of mass are more tragical. But you can’t expect anything different from a group of people.

So I am asking myself: Why do I have a problem with this?

Maybe just because I see that Yana finds joy and satisfaction in all this comments and reactions. They reinforce everything she actually believes about herself, her deep feeling of inadequacy, not being enough smart or beautiful, having low feeling of selfworth. The comments give her security and assure her that what she thinks about herself is true. She can’t escape her destiny.
